After observing few incidents from last few years, Facebook posts and some blogs which are spreading hatred on Hindu gods and dharma, on the eve of Sree Rama Navami I want to clarify few things related god Rama and his story Ramayana.
Who is Rama?
He is considered as 7th incarnation of lord Vishnu who is said to be as preserver of the whole world, As per Hinduism
who creates something new out nothing is called as Brahma (The Creator) or his descendants(Varna(class) of Brahmans). Preserver is the one who maintains this world with following rules as per the Veda, scriptures of Hindu religion which is claimed to be written by god’s.
Destroyer(Lord Shiva) is the one who destroys bad in the society or in you.
So who ever preserves this world from bad and rules according the dharma specified in the Vedic scriptures are called incarnations of lord Vishnu.
Is lord Rama just a character?
To know this we need to know the difference between mythology(Purana) and Itihaasa, Mythology can also be said as exaggeration of some incidents which may or may not have happened but they explain some morale along with some stories. But Itihaasa is something which happens clearly with the time. Sage Valmiki has clearly said in his book Ramayana that it is Itihaasa in its palasruthi(conclusion).
So Rama is not just a character, He is a real world entity who lived with the time and paved us a path to every human today to live with some values.
So from today don’t be confused with itihaasa and mythology, Ramayana and Mahabharata are Itihaasa where as scriptures like Bhagavatham, shiva puranam and devi Bhagavatham are Mythology.
Is Lord Rama against downtrodden castes?
In today’s society many intellectuals from other or our own religion is branding lord Rama as a anti-downtrodden castes.
Let us just know why they claim like this, Shambala is one of the shudra who is killed by lord Rama because he was doing Tapasya(one of meditation Karma’s). Can this be justified??, Just because he was a shudra can he kill him?? This is the major question that arises in everyone’s mind today, but if it was the case why didn’t lord Rama kill Valmiki because he was also a shudra and later turned . So according to this we can clearly see that there was acceptance in the society that day when people change their classes according to their knowledge and workmanship.
Is Ravana a Dravidian?
So many people today claim that Ravana belongs to Dravidian region so he is a Dravidian. Seriously??, Ravana is son of pulastya Bramha who is said to as one of the descendant (prajapithas) of lord Bramha, so he is Bramhin by birth, and also many times in Ramayana mahakavyam Ravana is called to be Aarya Putra(son of Aaryas). Kingdom of Lanka never belonged to Ravana but it’s occupied by him from his step son kubera. So Ram-Ravan clash cannot be said as Aaryan and Dravidian clash. But still even in the text books in our country claims this to be as clash of Aarya and Dravida which is a pitiful thing.
And even some videos in today’s YouTube claim that our scriptures always discriminated people with their color by showing demons as black and gods as whites. Ravana was a white bramhin and lord Rama was a dusky Kshatriya. So the discrimination was always based on the soul not the physical appearance.
Did Rama leave his wife for a no reason?
Absolutely no, Raaja drama was considered as greater heights when compared to individual dharma. May be many of us can’t understand this logic because we are not anymore in treta Yuga. If lord Rama really wanted to throw out Sita maa, he wouldn’t have gone to Lanka to get her back after Ravana kidnapped her or he would have married any other wife after sending Sita maa to forest. I personally consider the Bridge(Adam’s bridge) built to Lanka by Rama is symbol for Epitome of Love and it’s greater than that of taj Mahal which is claimed to built by Shahjahan for his love on Mumtaz.
I really pity on us that we depend on NASA to claim our own history and because we believe everything as myth specified in our scriptures. May be this is due to the educational system today.
Finally kill Ravana inside you and Glorify Rama inside you.
